Official Team Sri Lanka Delegation & FFMCE × GUMI University International Support at WMAC Daegu 2026
The Federation of Film Media Culture Entertainment (FFMCE) is proud to support the participation of the Sri Lanka Masters Athletics Association Team at the 2026 World Masters Athletics Stadia Championships (WMAC Daegu 2026) in the Republic of Korea.
This international sporting event brings together Masters athletes from around the world to compete in athletics while promoting international friendship, sportsmanship, healthy ageing and global cultural exchange.
For FFMCE, the participation of Team Sri Lanka represents more than an international sporting opportunity. It is part of our broader commitment to building meaningful connections between Sri Lanka and South Korea through sports, culture, education, tourism and international cooperation.
🌏 What is WMAC Daegu 2026?
The World Masters Athletics Championships are one of the world's major international athletics events for Masters athletes.
The 2026 World Masters Athletics Stadia Championships are being hosted in Daegu, South Korea, from 22 August to 3 September 2026, with the competitions centred at Daegu Stadium (World Masters Athletics ).
World Masters Athletics (WMA) is the international governing organisation for Masters athletics. The official WMAC Daegu information states that the championships are open to women and men aged 35 and above, with WMA representing 187 member countries (wmac2026.com ).
The championship provides an international platform where experienced athletes compete across track and field disciplines while representing their countries with pride.
For Sri Lanka, participation in WMAC Daegu 2026 provides an opportunity to showcase the country's sporting talent and strengthen international relationships through athletics.

🤝 FFMCE's Role
The Federation of Film Media Culture Entertainment (FFMCE) played a key coordination and support role in facilitating the Sri Lankan team's experience in South Korea.
As part of its international cooperation activities, FFMCE worked to provide the delegation with the necessary Korea-side coordination, guidance, hospitality and support throughout their journey.

🎓 The Role of GUMI University
GUMI University, Republic of Korea, is an important Korean partner in supporting the Sri Lankan delegation during their participation in WMAC Daegu 2026.
GUMI University's international exchange activities include international student support, overseas exchange programmes, partnership arrangements, international education and assistance with international visits and arrivals (gumi.ac.kr ).
Within this Sri Lanka–Korea initiative, GUMI University works together with FFMCE to support the Sri Lankan delegation on the Korean side, contributing to coordination, guidance, hospitality and the overall international exchange experience.

The Pirith chanting and blessings were offered wishing the Sri Lankan athletes protection, strength, good health, peace of mind and success throughout their participation in the championship.
